Q: virgin with genital herpes after vaccination

my 15.5 year old daughter she was vaccinated with gardasil twice once in May and once in August. she is now in the hospital with painful sores. waiting for culture to come back but doc thinks it is herpes. she is a virgin. Zero sex. how could this happen?

First, I need more information. Where is the outbreak? How do you know she is not sexually active?

 

People who have never had intercourse CAN still get herpes. An example would be two intercourse virgins who have oral sex, one of them has HSV-1 in their mouth and transfer it to the other persons genitals.

 

Alternatively, it IS possible for a person with a previous oral HSV infection to infect their own genitals, although this is less likely.

 

More information is needed here, I can assure you that the vaccine has nothing to do with this.
