you can generally only catch it if the sores are visible, however it may be contagious just before an outbreak, so suggest to her that she take the antiviral drugs regularly to minimise transmission to you.    Listen i need your help.  I've got hsv 2 and i really like this guy and want to sleep with him.  Should i tell him now or not?  How did you feel after she told you?  How would you have reacted if she'd told you before any sexual contact?
