Q: What is a good birth control pill that does not trigger outbreaks?

I was off BC for a yr and my OBs completely stopped. I didn't even need to take acycloviar. Then litterally the first day I started back on them I got that lovely itch and woke up in the morning with a full on OB. It was extremely resistant to the anti virals because I didn't have any built up in my system. Now every month around my period I start getting symptoms and an OB. At least now its only minor ones but I am so frustrated. The doctors dont' believe there is a tie in with BC and OBs but if there isn't then why do sooo... many of us have the same problem. Please help.

Probably a diaphragm.  I haven't read anything yet online on these posts of a birth control pill that does NOT trigger outbreaks.  I have tried low-ogestrel and each time I started them, an outbreak follows within a day.  And once I stop taking low-ogestrel, the outbreak starts to go away.

I went to see a doctor about a diaphragm.  I wanted to avoid any hormones added to my body, as I was trying to eat healthier and exercise, all to help with my outbreaks.  Although I told the doctor about my outbreaks starting with the  use of birth control pills, and stopping once I stop taking the pills, the doctor kept suggesting the nuvaring.  She stated that it has a very low dose of hormones and didn't think that birth control hormones trigger outbreaks.  Reluctantly, I tried the nuvaring anyway, (since the idea of keeping and reusing a diaphragm grossed me out and I wanted something as convenient as the pill), and had the worst outbreaks of any birth control I have used.  So I went back to the doctor's and told her what happened with the nuvaring, again, she didn't really think the nuvaring was to blame.  I told her I had read that I have read on other postings that progesterone triggers outbreaks.  So she prescribed loestrin 24 (loestrin 24 has a low dose of progesterone).  Once again, outbreak.  And this has happened a few times, I have stopped and started taking loestrin 24 just to see what follows and its the same every time.

I'm convinced that doctors dismiss birth control pills as a trigger for outbreaks because they have an interest in peddling the pills.  There is BIG business for keeping people sick and/or coming back to doctors office and pharmacies for crap that won't cure you, just might make you feel better for the time being. And worse, as we all know medications can cause dependency, that is sometimes irreversible.

I am now writing off birth control pills.  I will just continue to try and eat a vegetarian diet, less dairy, less bread, etc.  more vegetables, more raw, more exercise, breathing, meditation and yoga, and see how it goes.  oh yeah, and get a diaphragm too.  I don't believe in staying on acyclovir every day for the rest of your life.  It can't be good for your body in the end.  The only thing your body should consume everyday is water.  I was on acyclovir for about 6 months, and when I tried to get a refill on my prescription, a different doctor advised me to let my body heal on its own and learn how to take care of myself to prevent outbreaks.  I really appreciated her advice and have been working on it since.  Probably makes a difference, seeing as she worked for the community health care clinic.  She works for the community, not her own pocket.

good luck.
