Q: I was feeling very stressed two weeks ago, and now I have a bad vagina rash. Do I have herpes?

I first started scratching on the inside of my thigh, then I got open cuts, and then I got bumps that look like pimples.  So in my sleep I would scratch hard and then when I would wake up I would have severe itching associated with pain as the day went on.  I would even go to the bathroom to scratch.  I tried hydrocortisone 2% and this did not help.  I was very stressed when this occurred, I am in my early forties and have experienced stress worse than what I felt that week and never had an outbreak of what I thought was a rash.  I also have never had an outbreak like this on the outside of my vagina or been diagnosed with genital herpes.  The week before this rash broke out my glands in my neck felt swollen. My fear is that three weeks out of the month my husband travels with his job and that he may have brought me something.  I am monogomous and have been with only him for 16 years.

Just go to the Dr. and get an exam with all the blood tests to find out ... don't take any chances ... I hope it's not, but you're better off being safe and getting it checked out!  My son just turned 20 on 6/22 and on 5/17 he found out he has it.  Please, take proper care of yourself .... ok

Good Luck!!
