I have had a history of chronic yeast infections. Four days ago, I got a stomach bug, started my period, and started noticing symptoms of what I figured was another yeast infection: the itching, the cottage-cheese like discharge, swollen-ness, and the burning when urinating.

I have had unprotected sex with my partner recently, and he is big, I am small, and it can sometimes hurt me during intercourse. I always figured my yest infections stemmed from this irritation. I finally got Monistat 3 yesterday and used the first dose last night. Today, I discovered red, swollen bumps at the base of the opening of my vagina and one near my anus. They hurt and itch pretty badly. 

I am scared. I am going to call and see if I can get and appointment with someone tomorrow asap. But all the research I have done points to one thing: Genital Herpes. Could they not also stem from something related to a yeast infection? The monistat external cream does help the itching and all.... And also, should I continue using the monistat? I have two more does left. 

I know a doctor will be able to answer these for me, and I will go to one, but I am not going to be able to sleep tonight unless I find some definitive answers of some kind.
