Q: I have been married for 16 years. I went to the doctor and he is sure I have herpes.

I have had 4 vaginal deliveies and 1 C section.  My husband and I have both been faithful.  How can I now have herpes type II?  We are both having blood test done today.  I am so hurt and confused?  We both did have other sex partners but it was over 19 years ago???

Well there is 2 possibilities that could happen. Either you have had it for 19 years & your just not testing positive for it or your partner is lying to you.

If he tests & comes out negative have him retest in a month or so again in case it shows up on a later date. Now if your the only one that turns positive for herpes then its possible you have it for over 19 years & havent had an outbreak yet or havent noticed an outbreak but you have had one.

If you have had it for 19 years your blood test is going to come out positive right away the first test. And your husband has it as well or he gave it to you he will be positive to possibly. If u have any questions for me please feel free to message me.

I got the dreaded call today that I indeed am positive.  My husband goes tomorrow to the urologist for his test.  Is there anyway he could have had simplex 1 and had oral sex with me and gave me simplex 2?
