Once you have a certain strain of herpes which by the way there is 3,000 strains and you have the same one I am sure no.  What you need to do is take Valtrex to avoid more numerous outbreaks and to get it under control I take 500 a day no outbreak 1000meg a day out break time.  Then at one point in my life it went into a remission for 10 yrs. But stress brought it back and an operation.  Once it is back knock it out with valtrex and hope for a remission but do not kid yourself you have to take the meds to get it under control. Count yourself lucky if you have only herpes 1.  My suggestion to all women get a mirror and see if you are having one it is not always apparent in women as it is in men.  When I was in a remission time for yrs I required no meds which was the good news. But honey you two have the same strain so just take the valtrex if outbreaks occur with you or him.
