Hi Lizabeth,   Thanks for your question.  I'm not a doctor, so I have no medical authority, but I have herpes and think I can help you a bit.   You could have got herpes from kissing someone or practicing oral sex with someone who has herpes.  It is also possible you got it from sharing a drink with someone who has it, although that seems much less likely.  Try looking at the Transmission page on this website.      It sounds like you are having a lot of discomfort.  I suggest you go to a doctor, or Planned Parenthood if you don't have insurance, who can give you medication that will ease the symptoms.  Check out our Oral Herpes Treatment page which outlines the different prescribed treatments as well as an over-the-counter product called Abreva which you could get right now.   I also recommend you look at Dr. Grayson's Sharepost The Truth About HSV-1, HSV-2 and Oral Sex.     Hope this was helpful.  Good luck!   PJ
