HSV-1 is the cold sore virus which is similar to HSV-2 (genital herpes). Both are extremely contagious. Both can produce higher health risks in connection with other diseases. Either virus can be transferred to the face or genitals by intimate contact.

Many health professionals are afraid to tell you straight: it's best to avoid sex or intimate contact before marriage. See KissRisk.com for more info.
