Q: How long of a time frame would one take valtrex for cold sores?

I have been dating a very charming man.  I have discovered that he is taking valtrex.  He takes it for the prevention of cold sores.  Would a doctor prescribe valtrex for a long period of time to prevent a cold sore outbreak?  Would this just be for the treatment of herpes?

I do not believe the doctor would do that longtime, there is a natural, inthe health food shops, a another person found me the write spelling, lypsine, again one letter might be wrong, as i have had a stroke, memory who needs one. His body is not containing the mineral/vit you need in the body to advoid cold sores. this puts them back in and can get rid off them forever, no more expensive cremes, nyals cold sore creme is the best, if he is not open to this, i woulld ask more question,

Most likely he has herpes virus. Be direct, but not judgmental with him. You need to know and he has to be honest with you if he cares enough about you. My husband is on daily Valtrex in order not to pass it to me. It's working out for us so far... Good luck to you!
