I found out 3 months ago that I have genital herpes. I just tonight found a lesion in the way back of my throat with 2 little blisters on the inside of my mouth where my teeth would meet the inside part of my top lip. I have not had any sex since the begining of October and prior to that had not had oral sex in a VERY long time with my partner. (he is out of town for work right now) How could this have spread to my throat? Also I have an 18 month old daughter who I give smooches to all the time..........do I have to stop giving my daughter her smooches?? I had finally come to terms with the genital part of this disease and now i have to worry about the mouth aspect of it. How do I do this with my daughter? I dont' want her to suffer because of something that I don't have any idea when i contracted this. Can someone help me, this is killing me all over again. I feel like i've been diagnosed again for the 1st time........  I have called my dr this morning to obtain an RX for Acylovir and I've never had anything in my throat before.  I hadn't called my dr earlier because I thought I had just a sore throat, it is the season for sore throats and all.  I do not have any bumbs on the outside of my lips.  If someone can help me I thank you very much.....  I can't sleep.....  :-(

Have the blisters in the back of your throat tested. It might be strep or just a tonsil infection. Don't go in expecting the worst. Know the worst can happen, but go in hoping it's something else. I'll pray/keep you in my thoughts. Hopefully it works out for you.

There are two types of HSV, HSV type 1 and 2, and both can cause genital herpes.
