Hi Jeanette,

It's possible to be miss diagnosed, from the research that I've been doing in the past 3 days I've found that HSV can be confused with syphilis. I go to the OBGYN every 6 months for tests, they think I have cancer, and part of that test is a STD/HIV test (I do both blood and saliva). When the test results came back I've always been negative, but I found out yesterday that they don't test for HSV in the STD/HIV testing.

From what I've read from my college health clinic, Herpes can be in your body for years and it takes either a low immune system (catching a cold) or stress to bring out an outbreak. I don't know if this really answers your question but that was the 1st question I asked the doctor that diagnosed me. One website that answered the majority of my questions is: yoshi2me.com. There's books on that website that can explain things that we (the newbies) need to hear/know.

Remember it's going to be okay and you're still beautiful.
