Q: Can Herpes be transmitted through casual contact?

I have recently discovered that one of my very good friends has Herpes.

However, she comes over to our house quite frequently and plays with my daughter all the time. Should I be worried that her saliva might transmit the virus to my daughter or to any of my other family members? Can herpes be transmitted through touching something she had just touched or casual contact?

Also, I am not sure which type of herpes she has. But, in worst case scenario, please answer these questions as if she has both, please.

Thank you!

if she just has type 2 then no there is no way she can spread it to your daughter. IF she has type 1 unless she has an outbreak there really is no way she can spread it either. Now if she has a cold sore then yes dont let her drink out of the same glass.
