Topics:Safe Sex

I'm a straight, single male who is a health nut. My health is more important to me than sex.  Should I decide to go get intimate someone that I know has genital herpes, should I use a condom for any sex, i.e. genital and fellatio?  Do I need to use a dental dam for cunnilingus?

This may be stupid, but can I contract herpes from tongue kissing a woman who has genital herpes, and can she give it to me from performing oral sex on me?

Is there anything I can take to boost my immune system to further prevent agains getting herpes?

Thanks.

Healthnut-

YES...you can get herpes by having any kind sex with someone you know has it. Even when the person does not have an active outbreak or symptoms they can still pass the virus to you at any time. If they have oral herpes which is usually around or even inside the mouth, kissing them especially when they having and outbreak and having oral sex can lead to you contracting the virus from them. If you choose to have oral or vaginal, anal sex, always wear a condom and if you feel the urge to give her oral sex then yes you need to use protection down there as well because you can contract herpes by any means unless you're protected. Nothing you take to boost your immune system will help either, herpes is the top contracting STD in the world right now, it sneaks up on you and some people dont realize they have it until months or years later, so be safe and just use protection at all times no matter what type of sex you're having and you should be fine. Hope this helps you, take care.

There are two types of HSV, HSV type 1 and 2, and both can cause genital herpes.
