Hi and thanks for your question!

I found some conflicting information about bars of soap, and I am not a Physician, so it would be best for you to consult your Physician if you want to continue to share bars of soap.

Antibacterial Soap is great for killing germs, bacteria, etc., and I've also read that soap and water is good for killing the herpes virus itself.  However, I know that bars of soap are great places for bacteria to hang out, which is why I think I found conflicting information.

You can read more about Herpes transmission, which mainly talks about skin-to-skin contact as the main form of transmission of the virus. Everything I've read about transmission advises people to be more cautious while experiencing an outbreak.
