Q: Can You Get Herpies From Holding Someone Who Does Have Genital Herpes?

Well , im 14 and i had sex. I do admit , not one of my smartest decisions. Yes we used a condom. And i told my mom she was upset with me but she took me to the doctor and i had vaginitis. i took the medicine and then i had got a yeast infection. A few months later i have An UTI and the doctor said it was pretty bad and i took all the medicine and something is still wrong. i kinda think its a yeast infection because the medicine they gave me from the UTI. But my mom also suggested it was Herpes. and im going to get a pelvic exam in 2 days to get tested for STDs and STIs. And me and my boyfriend are on the safe side just incase it is herpes. and he is supposed to be coming over tonight , but IF i do have Genital herpes is there anyway if we cuddled that i could pass it to him? We arent kissing or touching just simply holding eachother , could it still be passed? is it safe to be even in the same bed with him? the balnkets are just recently washed today and i assure you we will be fully clothed. is it still safe?

You should ask your doctor or mother. But, you can hold hands and if fully clothed like you say, a person with genital herpes can't transmit it to another person.

Even with a condom, an infected person can transmit herpes. A condom alone is rought 30% effective. An anitviral drug is 49% effective. The only way not to get herpes is not to have sex with an infected person. Be aware, many people who are infected with herpes may not disclose or deny having it. You can't trust that someone will care enough about you to be honest. The person who gave it to me lied about it and he was a doctor. Herpes is a life long issue-- it never goes away and you can infect another person for the rest of your life.

Please be careful. Good luck to you.
