Q: can a male be exposed to the herpes virus and not catch it or if he has it initially is it possible

I have a itchy bump on my vagina. I have the herpes virus, however when i have an outbreak it usually is in the same spot and is very itchy and painful at the same time. I have a bump on the otherside of the vulva, not the side where the outbreak usually occurs. i didnt notice it until i was having sex with my boyfriend. he is very healthy and eat very healthy so i can assume he has a goodimmune system for fighting off infections. first off i was wondering can he have an initial outbreak and not be aware of it, or can he not catch the virus just because i have it. one time i had a bump and it was a carbuncle and it was very itchy also. i am scared because i dont want to pass it to my boyfriend. we are in a monogomous relationship and hopefully we will get married one day. i have taken two valtrex pills but i am still itchy. my meds usually work immediately, and therefore i think it may not be an outbreak but maybe just a itchy bump.
