Q: could just a rash under the vagina be a sign of herpes?

I came out of a relationship with a guy about 2yrs ago and am extremely frightened of getting into another as I think he may have left me with a departing giftFrown. I have been noticinga rash like thing just under the vagina, and am hoping like hell its not herpes. There has been no signs of any kind of blistering, etc..just this rash that gets itchy and abit sore after urinating. It only lasts for perhaps a day or 2 and then goes away, it could be weeks or months before it comes back.

Is it possible that this is what it could be. I am 40 yrs old and ahve never had this before. Although for years now I have had the cold sores on the lips, and they only come out when I get the flu. There is a pending relationship, but I am terrified that this may be herpes, so I have stayed away. Every time I think of going to the doctor I get put off and very embarrassed. Could this be Genital Herpes?
