Q: Can an irritated spot that continuously comes up in the same spot of my vagina be herpes?

I can get this random, irritated, slightly red area that is right on the outside of my vagina. I notice it after I shave, or wipe, or just touch it...It is never a lump, or has a discharge, or even a whitehead or anything out of the ordinary. I would never even know it is there (even when I look at it in a mirror) unless I touched it, it seems almost like an irritation. But if I have sex or rub it too much sometimes it can turn into a type of "open sore." Unfortunately the doctor said they cannot do anything unless I come when I have it. Until then he says that he just thinks it could be herpes. I am freaking out! It is never a cluster, or itches or burns or anything...I don't know what to do. Should I just face it and think it is herpes? But I also found out when I got checked that I had BV, so could it be because of the bacteria?
