My partner and I both have Herpes 1, but on genitals. What about oral sex?

Have not read any clear info on this.

If we perform oral sex on one another, could we get the herpes virus on our mouth area..or since we are both infected with same type of virus both on genitals, would if not spread to mouth area?

Hello,

Thanks for your question. HSV1 can be spread from genitals to the mouth area and vice versa. Check out this article written by Dr. Charlottle Grayson entitled "The truth of HSV1, HSV2, and Oral Sex." If you have concerns, it is always best to speak with a doctor.
