should i tell a guy i want to sleep with that i have hsv 2 even though no outbreak atm?

I met a man recently whom I really like and want to sleep with but i'm terrfied of whether to tell him or not, and how he will react.. he made a passing comment in a joking fashion' so long as you dont have aids...' or something and i cringed inside. I've got herpes type 2
