my girlfriend had herpes zoster on her cheek,and went to her doctor and her doctor her it was shingles.is this doctor right?is this a herpes that comes from sexual intercourse and form of std?and can i get it when have sex? she has had sex with 4 or 5 guys without protection. should i be checked just in case? what is your suggestion? could you answer my question asap?

i cant really answer but my zoster is virus free. the dermatologist says it is virus free. i cant get the primary doctor to confirm that i ever had chicken pox. but zoster is manifested from old chicken pox antibodies in your body. shingles feels like raw nerves popping up on the skin. active shingles can cause pain from what seems like it is coming out of nowhere. from any where in the body. the scars from picking and scratching(as they are painful) can cause nerve damage. I have raw nerves that pop up painful since 2007.
Herpes Zoster is not a std. But it is like chickenpox which can spread to other person by touching.
