Q: Can I get herpies on my mouth / face giving my girlfriend oral sex. If so can I protect myself.

I am in a new relationship. She just told me she has genital herpies. We have not had sex yet. I do like her a lot. In fact she is the first woman I have liked this way in years. My first thought was get out. But I am sooooo hoping for a miracle.

Yes, you can get herpes from giving oral sex to your girlfriend. If she has an outbreak avoid having any sexual contact. You need to have an very open commuication with your girlfriend, becasue she have to take good care of herself, physical (building her immune sysyem), emotinal, and mental. You can recieve oral herpes when she has a outbreak or not an breakout, becasue even though there maybe no sign, the virus can still be transmited, the best thing to do if, you want to have oral sex with her, is when she does not have an outbreak, the best thing to use is dental dams or latex sheets which are available to provide protection during oral sex and can be purchased from pharmacies in some countries or via the internet. But acknowlege there still a highly risk of you receiving heperes. Just a slight cut on your lip or on latex sheets, it can be passed. However, if you use this method and your girlfriend takes herpes medication to supress shedding and breakouts, you can reduce your risk to 50% chance of not getting herpes. If you anymore question, just post them.. Sin. Byrd
