Q: herpes how dose it show up in a test?

i was just told that i have hsv 1. I have gotten cold sores since i was in the 3rd grade. my boyfriend, his friend is tested every 6 months, and he gets cold sores too, but his test results come back saying that he has nothing. I was just wondering why?

The blood test will show if your body is building up antibodies to the herpes virus and they can tell you.  Most everyone has herpes 1 it is common in everyone don't worry about that one.
