Q: How do doctors test for genital herpes?

I was diagnosed with genital herpes from my partner who had never had any breakout, who was in fact unknowing that he has herpes. (It was my first time having sex)  However, when my partner went to the doctor, he had a blood and urine test and the results came back negative for herpes.

So, I'm wondering what ways there are effectively diagnosing herpes.

Really the only way to tell if you do have genital herpes is to get a blood test. Or if you feel a cluster of bumps then you can go to your doctor. From there they will check you, and see what it is. The way I got tested was by doing a blood test.

I too agree the only way to actually test for herpes is by blood test or if you notice you have headaches regularly, tiredness, tingling sensation going through your vagina or penis you might also see sores in red of color and numbness....some people have no symptoms what so ever..
