I believe it can decrease the chances of him catching type 1 on his genitals. Dont quote me on that though. I do know that if a person has type 1 on there mouth u can get it on your genitals to. Now if it was type 2 herpes on the genitals its a bit more harder to get herpes type 2 on the mouth. If u have further questions please feel free to message me.

I am wondering the same thing, I have HSV-1 and my partner has nothing. We have not done anything yet but i dont want to give him anything. What i was wondering is if HSV-1 Would be like him recieving oral from someone who has had a cold sore in their lifetime. I am also on Valtrex, I would try that if you want to prevent giving him HSV-1 on his gentials. It is a little pricey but with insurance it is not too bad.
