I am not sure if I have genital herpes, however, I have a scheduled appointment with my doctor, soon. I have a burning sensation in the rectal area and stinging sensation on my lips? I am not sure what this means, if anyone has these type of symptoms, share your information with me. Thanks,

63 years old. Other than sexual contact, how is the virus transmitted?

I've been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend and I recently contracted an "infection" with symptoms similair to that of genital herpies.
