New data shows how HIV targets U.S. minorities

Data from a new report has found that 80 percent of U.S. HIV/AiDS cases are concentrated in just 20 percent of counties that are typically comprised of gay, Latino, and other minority populations. The new HIV/AIDS Atlas suggests that a person's chances of contracting the AIDS virus may be largely dependent on where he or she lives in the United States. But HIV/AIDS say this doesn't mean people everywhere shouldn't protect themselves from the virus. Rather, the data is a valuable resource for policymakers and people about the HIV dangers closest to where they live.
