Even healed herpes sores boost HIV risk

According to new research, people who have healed genital herpes sores are at a higher risk of contracting the HIV virus. Scientists say this is because the immune-cell environment associated with genital herpes is a favorable environment for the HIV virus, even after healing has occurred and herpes has been treated with medications.
