Insurance Company Targeted HIV Patient for Dropped Coverage

Before he entered college, 17-year-old Jerome Mitchell purchased a health insurance policy with insurer Fortis in anticipation of his first year of college. During his freshman year, he found out he had contracted HIV. But rather than helping to pay for Mitchell's medical treatments, the insurer dropped his coverage. In this article, a reporter follows Mitchell's quest for answers--and justice--from his insurance company, a company that a court ruled specifically targeted the youth for dropped coverage because of his HIV.
