According to a new study, the human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV)--which is given to women to help prevent cervical cancer--may also help protect them from low-grade cervical growths and genital warts. In the study of more than 17,000 women in 24 countries and territories, researchers found that 168 of 7,632 women who were given a placebo developed cervical growths attributed to HPV strains, while only seven of the 7,629 who took the HPV vaccine did.
