NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, has released results from questionnaires about mental health policies of presidential contenders.
The results so far:
- Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and Barack Obama have submitted answers to the questionnaire, each in considerable detail.
- John McCain provided a statement on mental healthcare policy but his staff said he does not reply to specific questionnaires
- Mitt Romney's campaign said he doesn't answer questionnaires.
Each Democrat professes great concern for the quality and availability of mental health treatment.
Each declares strong support for specific policies and programs supporting mental health care.
None provides a method for how such programs would be funded.
Results for other candidates are listed as "pending."
