nothing left behind

Friday, February 01, 2008 at 12:14 PMI'm glad they're both off the campaign trail. Rudy is a phony (polished on stage and miserable in real life) and Edwards should be at home with his wife - practicing what he preaches.
This, in my humble opinion, accentuates what Obama is trying to do with Health Care. And without the G-Man in the way, he might actually get it done.

The always insightful Paul Krugman gives Edwards lots of credit for advancing the health care debate. Krugman also details the weakness of Obama's plan compared to Clinton's universal health care plan.

John Edwards

Friday, February 01, 2008 at 02:41 PMGuiliani had nothing to leave...but Edwards had something that defeated him, something that has not been in a candidate....since FDR?...compassion for people..not corporations, the rich OR our corporate healthcare industry....sad..because I do not think anybody will pick that up...re: John Edwards

Friday, February 01, 2008 at 05:44 PMYou are so right. I have followed John Edwards since he first ran for President with John Kerry. I've read everything I could about him. I think gross misintrpretations have been made about him such as suggestion that he lived in a huge mansion. Well the house may be big but they included the square footage of his barn. Was that fair. No. The media often is not fair if they can create sensationalism.
Just like the issue of why isn't he staying home with his wife. His wife "wanted" him out there. She's a dynamic woman! But now they will be working together for those in New Orleans that have been forgotten. That says it all about John Edwards.
We have truly lost what would have been a great president.

Sunday, February 03, 2008 at 12:22 AMHi Craig:
I so agree with your post.
Personally, I liked Edward's thought process;we need...a Revolution! Let's not pay taxes until they create a health care that is going to work for everyone
I don't know, would that even work?
a people's revolution would work; it is just getting everyone motivated...
Maybe having a woman in command would get the job done....women biologically are the nuturer's.

Monday, February 04, 2008 at 10:05 PMAnd... what about those concidered "uninsurable". Those who have had surgery gone badly, or have had too many complications for insurance to want to pick them up. I'm sure John Edwards has thought about how to keep insurance for his wife at this point. I was excited to hear his comment about taking insurance away from the elected leaders till they find it for all. I wonder about how the AMA and the insurance industry are financing these compaigns, and what effect that will have on any chance of changing a failing system.

Craig - You made a very good point - Edwards bold idea will be missed, and I only hope the other candidates have the... hmmm... chutspah to be as bold about healthcare. In the New Deal FDR took on tackling the huge national crisis that was the depression, and got Americans behind it. In the Second World War we had a war effort that united people in a common cause as never before. That was an example of being presidential. We need a new president who is ready to be presidential about healthcare - a national crisis whose impact will only spread if not addressed effectively.
I'm a little disappointed I don't have a chance to vote for Edwards in Tuesday's primary.
