When making hamburgers at home , just replace the bread crumbers with either wheat bran or oat bran.  This will safe a lot of calories and works well.

If you have any blood sugar issues, these will also cause high blood sugar. Why add anything else to hamburger - just eat it plain.   If you have to have something... add ground flax.

Dr. Davis mentions bread crumbs in his article which contains considerably more carbohydrates than bran.

I am talking about a few tablespoons of bran per pound of hamburger. Wheat bran is 70% fibre, , and high in iron. , magnesium, manganese, niacin, phosphorus, zinc.
