An interesting article.  However, my mom is also on Plavix.  Would diuretics be detrimental when used with Plavix.  She has had ministrokes and has used Plavix for about eight years now.

In the sentence "increased likelihood of death in other people" I think Dr. Davis means "likelihood of death  from other causes" Also, is average age of 83.6 years correct? That means almost a majarity of the persons were in their late 80s or 90s. Where did they find them? If this is correct it is a poor selection. The large majority should have been in the 50s to 70s. That's where it matters. Also, the current dogma is less than 120/80 so how helpful is it to go to 150? Maybe it is better to be at 150 without pills than 120 with pills. Not to mention that the drug companies skin you alive for their pillls. Benicar, $3.77 a pill, Viagra $10 a pill. That's why the drug companies have billions to buy politicians, influence doctors and pay for all those TV ads. Frustrating
