When should low thyroid be considered and when could it be blamed for contributing to risk for heart disease?
You’d think the answer would be straightforward: Either it’s normal or it isn't.

My TSH was 3.8 and my total cholesterol was 278. Within 60 days of taking Armour Thyroid (.5 gram for two weeks, then 1 gram for two weeks, then 1.5 gram), my total cholesterol went down to 107! My TSH level has been staying steady at 5 mU/L. I am no longer losing hair and no longer staying awake in bed at night with my teeth chattering from being cold all night. My doctor did not want to treat with TSH at 3.8 but I demanded she treat me for my symptoms. The only other change I made during that 60 days was the addition of taking krill oil supplements twice a day. I am sure the lower cholesterol is a result of both. I can't wait to bring these HUNT study results to my next appointment.
