I have low HDL about 30 , LDL 125, Chorestrol 185, Trig 120. I have been exercising regularly for the past 3 months and eating healthy food but my HDL does not seems to increase or am I expecting results too quickly. I was interested in finding out how to raise my HDL and this article was so informative.
I had an idea but I just wanted to be sure.
My LDL was a smidgeons high and that startled me so I wanted to make sure how to lower that.
The healthy way and not with medication
I do take good care but during the holidays I did over do in the cheddar cheese department.
I just knew that is what happened
And I certainly don't want to jeopardize my existing good health
I certainly do not want to go onto medication for this issue.
As suggested by my Doctor.
I have high cholesterol and it was interesting that my doctor was not too concerned - mainly as I had no other conditions such as high blood pressure etc.
My doctor said I could go on medication but I did not really want to do that as I was told it would mean I would be on medication for the rest of my life - and I don't really like the idea of drugs and the side effects etc...
I decided instead to try alternative and far more healthy options - including a slight change in my diet (less fatty things, cheeses etc- I love cheeses!! , increased exercise (except I don't do gym's) and I also looked at supplements etc that could help.
I had to make some key changes.
I needed to focus on drinking more water - it is good for you with no side effects.
As mentioned - I consume less cheese and have reduced other "fatty foods" too
I am doing more exercise - still not going to the gym but I will walk wherever possible rather than driving etc, take the stairs instead of the lift and just really make an effort to play sports etc

Too many blood thinners, so cut back the cinnamon to 1/2 tsp and eliminated aspirin altogether.
The April numbers are unreal. 64 HDL, 33 Triglycerides and 34 LDL. Switched from 20 mg lipitor to 20 mg zocor and will check it again this July.

I am a 49 year old female that has been through an enormous amount of life changing stressful events. After a year of being fairly sedentary, I have once again regemented into a 2-3 mile walk every other day. I previously worked at a job that I never slowed down, sweat profusely, and drank water all day, BUT did not urinate all day.
One evening, I was up all night, every hour, urinating. It seemed like just when I got into bed I could feel my bladder filling back up. That lasted for two days.
I also noticed that my feet would have some edema in the evenings.
