Dr. Davis is my cardiologist and, last January, he convinced me to cut wheat out of my diet. We did the benchmark blood tests prior and, six months later, when we did the blood tests again in June, my triglycerides were cut by more than one third. Still, I was drinking five to eight diet Pepsis everyday.

Since June, I quite drinking diet Pepsi, which is sweetened with fructose. To date, I have done nothing different with my diet besides quitting wheat (about 95%) and quitting diet Pepsis. My belly has flattened out considerably (but not completely because I still drink a lot of beer). I have dropped 10 lbs without trying, my 20-year angina pain is practically gone, hardly ever noticeable, and I feel much better physically day to day. I think Dr. Davis is right on about the high fructose corn syrup. I'll let you know for sure in Dec. when I have my next benchmark appointment with Dr. Davis.

Almost every prepared food in grocery stores contains high fructose corn syrup. Everything I read about this stuff screams "bad news". What is the effect upon young children consuming this type of sugar? What is the responsibility of food preparers and manufacturers who fob this stuff onto us, the public?
