I had a drug stent put in in 2007 and had to go on plavix.....I also had a terrible reaction to it - but plavix was my only option.   I did some researching and found out that the Univ of Iowa had conducted a study years ago regarding the plavix allergy issue.  I somewhat modified their findings.  What I ended up doing was splitting my plavix pill into 6 sections  and taking a piece of the drug every half hour with yogurt......(my stepdaughter suggested the yogurt - she is an RN).  After a month, I split the pill into 4 sections and within a couple of week, I was taking the whole pill..........

Hope  this helps - what is causing his lung issues is another issue you and the doctors should be addressing.  I had no problem with my lungs......

I had 5 taxus stents put in, doctor put me on plavix and aspirin for rest of my life. I'm 53 years old quit smoking cold turkey it was hard but doctor ordered me to.

Now after being smoke free for 2 months, I find this article that if you smoke and take plavix the plavix will work better. What??? what??? my doctor ordered me to quit, he told me if I didn't quit he would have to put more stents in me in the future. I certainly don't "CRAVE" cigarettes anymore. However, my husband has stated that the past 2 months I have been a real "B----". Even I have noticed my bad bitchy moods. I was so happy when I was a smoker, it was something my husband and I did together, and I miss that. Now my poor husband has to go outside and smoke because I no longer smoke. I know smoking causes lung cancer, I'm not denying that. I've started eating healthy, no let me re-phrase that, I have become a "VEGETARIAN" to help my heart!!!!! Now here's my question, I'm a vegetarian, I now exercise, can I go back to my smoking? I really miss it.
