MY HUSBAND HAD SURGERY AT STONTBROOK UNIVERSITY HOSP.DR. KRUCKENKAMP.BYPASS SURGERY AND MITRAL VALVE REPAIR. SHORTLY AFTER HIS SURGERY HE STARTED URINATING BLOOD. THE SURGEON SAID IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MITRAL VALVE REPAIR, WHICH HE SAID WENT WELL. SO HE WAS TRANSFUSED 2X WEEKLY TO REPLACE HIS BLOOD LOSS WHILE HE HAD LAB WORK THAT RULED OUT ANY OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSE. NOTHING SHOWED UP. CULPRID...MITRAL VALVE. IT WAS THEN REPLACED WITH A COW VALVE. 5 YEARS LATER HIS VALVE IS SEVERELY LEAKING AND NEEDS A 3RD SURGERY.HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM????????????

Thank you for you sharepost. I just forwarded your question to The HealthCentral Network's medical expert. One of the great things about this share post community is that other members may have experienced the same mitral valve trouble, and may be able to offer you priceless information/advice/support. I wish your husband the best of health.
Sincerely,
