Drinking Lots of Water is Vital

By Lisa Nelson, Health Pro Sunday, February 08, 2009

You need to consume 8-10 eight-ounce glasses of water each day.  Water not only keeps you hydrated, but it cleanses your kidneys, and helps you lose weight.

Here are a few of the ways drinking plenty of water will help you lose weight and improve your heart health:

  1. Water will "swell" the fiber in your stomach which increases satiety (feeling of fullness).
  2. Water promotes decreased fat storage.
  3. "Rinses" sodium from your system.  Sodium causes water retention, which cause your scale to read a higher number than you may like.  Cleansing your system of sodium is also beneficial if you struggle to control high blood pressure.
