Hello to each and everyone of you,
I signed-up on behalf of my precious wife - we are both 64 by the way. My wife first fell victim to Asthma, 23 years back, and since 1965 we have been blessed with 3 sons, 1 daughter, and now tresure our 7 grandchildren.
During the 90s my Wife, Valerie was suddenly hit by Arrythmia, PSVT, i beleive. Eventually had 1 ablation, it failed to stop the PSVT and a second ablation was suggested. This time we were told, "If this 2nd attempt fails, you may have to be fitted with a Pacemaker".
To us a Pacemaker showed signs of perhaps future problems etc. so we started to question such even more than before. "OK"m said the Cardio Doctor we saw, "Let us try Flecainide Acetate". we discussed possible after effects and eventually felt happy with such. Val is still on such and yes it has stopped the arrythmia. Hypertension cropped up and Val was then prescribed a Diuretic. B.P remained high and so LISINOPRIL was also prescribed.
Recently Val felt back ache start, especially at night. Signs of Flu, began and she became weak, lost her appetite and after 3 days Severe Abdominal Pain started. This time Val was hospitalised. Gastro- Surgeon sent her for;
1. x-ray
2.sound scan
3.CT scan
each day blood tests were taken, B.P. was checked, pain killers plus anti biotics were given intravenously. 7 days later Val was allowed to come home, oh and in between this the LISINOPRIL was stopped. In 2 weeks time Val is to have a Colonoscopy as the Abdominal pain was not defined 100%.
Reason for writing is that when the psvt began, no electro-physiology was carried out, and since then have read how Flecainide Acetate is usually given to a patient that has/had a Serious Heart Disease.
I apologise if sounding slightly ignorant about all this, but is this how things happen or has something been so far overlooked.
By the way Our respect for Every single person from a Professed Consultant down to new trainee Nurse, is a Trillion times higher than may be imagined. Its just how confusing everything suddenly becomes
Please have fun and may the oncoming years be at least 2009 times better than yesteryear.
thank you
