George Carlin was doing his thing back before I was old enough to be listening. It was funny, even the stuff I did not understand at the time. Depending on his venue, his clean stuff was good stuff.

As I aged, so did George, and understanding that humor is part of our culture, I learned we need to laugh at ourselves, because others already are.

Now as a parent, grandparent, I stop and think about what George's wit has brought about. And I chuckle again, sometimes under my breath, sometimes REALLY outloud.

One of my favorite quotes from George....

"I like how airlines tell you it's time to get on the plane. You can get on it. I'd rather get in it"

(this will be paraphrased, as I don't remember his exact words...also, picture his wonderful facial expressions to go with the quotes)

1.  Those people who are exercise fanatics really get to me.  They say "No pain, no gain."  I say "No pain..............no pain!"

2.  I got into trouble with Customs when I was doing a tour in Europe.  They took a look at my bag of vitamins and thought I was transporting drugs.  From now on, any time I leave the country, I'll only take along Flintstones vitamins.
