I have been on both Lipitor (80mg) and Lopid (1200mg) for the past twelve years. Until recently, I have had no problems with one of the documented side effects of statins/gemfibrozil - rhabdomyolosis. Approximately three weeks ago, I started experiencing deep pain and weakness in my thighs, calfs, lower back and mid back. My myoglobin is slightly elevated (137 ng/ml) as well as my CPK (232 U/L). I am making the assumption this is related to this medication combination. My understanding has been if problems with these side effects were to occur, they would have manifested within a few weeks/months of starting the drugs - not after 12 years. Is this a common occurance?
