I am dying slowly and desperately need help. I live in a country just coming out of a long civil war and was victimized by effects of that war. I suffered from nearly non-stop heart palpitations for 5 years up to 2005 when I was diagnosed of cardiac dialation (hypertrophic cardiomyophathy???) by a...

Monday, July 14, 2008 at 04:28 AMThanks for the advice. That article and all other related articles were the first I downloaded when I first saw this site. I have printed the pages into a small book and have read ALL articles: they are so rich with information. Liberia lacks such knowledge - experts not available - and so friends with similar medical problems have found delight in borrowing my "book" to get as informed about their conditions as possible. So thanks again for recommending the article.

Monday, July 14, 2008 at 12:59 AMI am not a cardiologist, but a cardiopulmonary physical therapist. You have your sequence of events in reverse. The palpitations were/are not the cause of your
cardiomyopathy, they are the result of it. Did you have an echocardiogram? That would be the only way to diagnosis whether you truly have hypertrophic (HCM) or a dilated cardiomyopathy. In either case a beta blocker is the correct drug of choice.
If you have a dilated cardiomyopathy, CoQ10, D-Ribose and L-carnitine are essential
nutritional supplements you should try and obtain. Magnesium deficiency is very likely a contributing cause to the arrhythmias as well as other nutrient deficiencies from what I assume is a very sub-optimal diet. Hence, a high potency multiple vitamin/mineral product as well as a chelated magnesium are also essential. A mild intensity exercise program of walking, bicycling or swimming will also help strengthen your heart and improve your exercise ability as well as quality and probaby quantity of life.

Monday, July 14, 2008 at 04:40 AMThanks, Randy, for your advice. I did an echocardiogram sometime back in 1999 and 2000 but it's all in French, which I do not master. Besides, it's been a good while ago now. I will comb the city to find where this can be done and will get the results over to you. I appreciate the concern and the expert advice; it shows how this community is one of the best I have come across! God bless you.

I use a product that is called PLUS. It has helped regulate my endorine system. It is not a drug but a nutrient. I also use a glyconutrient product with antioxidents. I have received great results. You can order it online just like I do at www.mannapages.com/greatnews
To your health,
Sincerely
