You're finally home after a long hospital rehabilitation after a stroke. Now what? You may feel alone and isolated, dependent on others for your personal needs. But you are not alone. Now is the time to connect with your local hospital's Stroke Support Group. Perhaps the rehabilitation floor or hospital you attended knows of dates and times of Stroke Support Groups. Here, you will meet others going through the same challenges as you. You are not alone.
Many hospitals and local chapters of American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, and National Stroke Associatons area offices sponsor LIFE AFTER STROKE CONFERENCES and Stroke Support Groups from various locations are invited along with their families.

Check your local paper for area hospitals that may be sponsoring an even for Stroke Awareness and Recovery. Keep in touch with your local rehabilitation center regarding upcoming events. The magazine lists upcoming events for each state along with conference dates and contact information.
If you live in the Duluth/Superior or Minnesota area there will be a LIFE AFTER STROKE CONFERENCE on Saturday, May 16,2009 at the Saint Mary's Duluth Clinic (SMDC) 1st Street Building from 8:30 A.M to 2:30 P.M. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Diana Schneider, PhD, author of The Coumadin (Warfarin) Help Book: Anticoagulation Therapy to Prevent and Manage Strokes, Heart Attacks, and Other Vascular Conditions.
