Diabetes

At a Glance

Having diabetes can accelerate the progression of heart disease. The reasons people with diabetes are at greater risk of heart attack, is because consistently high blood sugars can result in serious damage to the coronary arteries. Other factors include, high blood pressure in diabetics, blood vessels narrowing or clogging due to high glucose, trouble with nerves around the heart, and high triglyceride levels.
