Menopause

At a Glance

Certain traits, conditions and habits may raise a person's risk of heart disease, and one of those factors is menopause. This is because prior to menopause, estrogen plays a role in protecting the heart against coronary heart disease. In addition, being middle-aged tends to bring other risk factors for heart disease.
