Chronic stress can lead to high blood pressure and cholesterol, two major risk factors for heart disease, heart attack, and stroke. Stressors like a heavy workload at the office or the death of a loved one affects your heart. While stressed, people may engage in other activities like smoking and over eating that lead to risk factors for heart disease.
