can p.a.d. cause dementia in older patients?

my mother is 82 she has dimentia which was originally diagnosed as alzheimers but there is no regression to a child like state and no abnormal aggression which I'm familiar with seeing in alzheimers patients she has high blood pressure and has suffered from strokes and some sort of infection…
